Lean Process Minimizes Cost at Shenfei Liyi
Shenfei Liyi, a door closer company based in Zhejiang, China started its Lean journey to minimize costs after it joined ASSA ABLOY in December 2008.
They invited Lean specialists to train and facilitate the implementation of Lean projects. Different working groups from within the factory, or workshops, set up their own teams to brainstorm for ideas, based on their own specific situations. The move was critical in helping the workers internalize the Lean culture, and it helped them come up with nearly 30 suggestions!
For instance, it was proposed that one Die Casting workshop use a die casting machine economizer, which was projected to save RMB 200,000 (US$ 29,000) in electricity bills every year. If the department implemented all the suggestions which were raised, the proposal could save up to 2 million RMB (US$ 290,000) by the end of 2009.
